A four-night tutored retreat at Loch Rannoch at about £895 sits just under Arvon (£930–£995) and well above untutored retreats (£515–£650). It would break even at about 7 guests on illustrative costs. The best partners are member-led: the Highland Perthshire Creative Writing Group, the Scottish Association of Writers and the RNA's Scottish chapter. Full plan.
First-time novelists are the largest market, and they pay for finishing a book rather than for writing tools. Self-Publishing School charges thousands per programme, while Sudowrite, the best-known AI fiction tool, is estimated at about $1.8M a year. Most novelists strongly oppose AI writing the book itself, so the product coaches and never writes the novel. See the brief.
